Meeting of 11.01.2017:
19 members and prospective member Greg Schraupfnagel attended the breakfast of November 1 and heard Tammy Hayft-Fields's entertaining establishment talk about her family, her hobbies (hunting and fishing), her adventurous family vacations, and her working life at the Kimberly Nybo office of State Farm Insurance in Columbia Heights, complete with advice on homeowners' insurance.
 
Announcements:
  • President Wally Wysopal issued a reminder of the club's bell-ringing service project, Nov. 29, dec. 6, and Dec. 13 at Sam's club in Fridley.
  • Roy Goslin now expects that the annual Charter Dinner will take place in February. Volunteers will be needed to help him prepare the meal.
  • Zac Hoang announced the first STRIVE field trip, scheduled to visit Anoka Ramsey Community College on Dec. 8.
  • Gordon Backlund reported on the first meeting of the Fridley 49er Days committee
  • Bob Tholkes mentioned that the October dictionary distribution project was well-covered in the Fridley and Columbia Heights Sun-Focus
Meeting of 11.08.2017:
19 members, exchange student Pascal Boehner, and prospective members Katie Johnson, Lacey Anderson, and Greg Schraufnagel attended the breakfast of November 8 and heard speakers Shannon Melham, Manager of the Fridley branch of the Anoka County Public Library, and Jackie Kramer, Assistant Director, describe the librarys' usage statistics, new features, community partners, upcoming special events, volunteer program, and online offerings.
 
Announcements:
  • Josh Lund announced that Brian Weierke has accepted nomination for the position of President-Elect for the 2018-19 Rotary year.
  • President Wally Wysopal announced that Amy Wild and Zac Hoang have accepted nomination to the board for the 2018-19 Rotary year.
  • Wysopal summarized board actions at its meeting of Nov. 2, including sponsorship of the Lee Carlson Center Chili Cook-off at Springbrook Nature Center and purchase of a table at the Fridley Schools foundation Gala on Jan. 25 at Banquets of Minnesota.
  • Craig Malm noted that he intends to be at the Rotary District 5960 Conference of Clubs April 19 at Mystic Lake Casino, and invited carpooling.
  • Steve Klaers announced that Tammy Hayft-Fields has agreed to head up the STRIVE mentoring program. Rotary volunteers needed.
 
New Members:
Wysopal announced tha four new members were approved at the board meeting: Katie Johnson and Lacey Anderson of Talecris Plasma Resources in Fridley, Bryan Rogers of Village Bank in Blaine and Greg Schraufnagel of Thrivent Financial.
