PROGRAM
 
13 members and prospective member Matt Laue of Fridley heard past District Governor Ed Boeve of Stillwater Sunrise Rotary and District 5960 member of the multi-district host committee for the 2028 Rotary International convention in Minneapolis describe the planning and prospects for the convention, which is expected to draw 20,000 attendees from around the world. See volunteering info below.

CLUB ANNOUNCEMENTS
 
The club board approved $1700 for another round of our literacy program, which last year started classroom reference libraries for 3rd grade classrooms in Fridley and Columbia Heights. We need someone to oversee the process: to contact in September the school curriculum officials who last year met with 3rd grade teachers to find out what reference materials would be appropriate and once more obtain their cooperation.
 
The club board approved $500 to restock trading banners – would someone like to do a redesign?

Thanks to Eric Wasser and Sarie Cudahy for volunteering to staff an informational table at today’s Columbia Heights Arts and Information Fair.
…sort of. Former President-Elect Erik Johnston, now of White Bear Lake Rotary, informs that its primary fundraiser, Taste of WBL, is Sat., Sep. 12, 2-5 pm at Pine Tree Apple Orchard, 450 Apple Orchard Rd., WBL.

Treasurer Will Rottler issued invoices on June 22 for the current billing quarter, which ends June 30. Check your email! Treasurer Rottler is available by phone for online dues payments on Square. Rotary International announced that the May 27-28, 2028 RI convention will be held in Minneapolis. It will be organized cooperatively by Districts 5580, 5950, 5960, and 6250. If you already know that you will want to volunteer at the Rotary International Convention in Minneapolis in 2028, send your name, email and club name to ri2028volunteer@gmail.com. At a minimum, the people-watching should be amazing! Convention registration not required. The convention has exceed its immediate goal of 1000 Rotarians registered as interested in volunteering; that goal has morphed to 1600 volunteers.
