September 15- Nick Novitsky and Bill Sauerwein of the Columbia Heights Lions Club spoke on their club’s success in the past ten years in increasing membership and retaining members, and described the club’s several services to its community, especially the annual Columbia Heights Jamboree, its extensive efforts to collaborate with other community organizations, and details of its operation.
Kristen Stuenkel, Bob Tholkes, Steve Klaers, and Bob Olsen met on Zoom yesterday morning the 14th to plan the next steps in the club’s participation in Rotary’s Operation Pollination. Another such meeting is planned for October, and a breakfast program is planned for November 17.
Condolences to member Norma Jean Falink, whose spouse Henry Smith passed away last week while in hospice care. An obituary will be published this Sunday, September 19.
Jim Cummings of Fridley High School, coordinator of the STRIVE program at Fridley, visited to update the club on this year’s effort, which will commence in early October, and to thank the club for its continuing support.
Members may sign up to deliver groceries for SACA on any Saturday. If you will be driving, provide your insurance card and driver’s license for SACA to copy for its records. Volunteer at

Speaker on September 22 (postponed from September 8): Mark Maher, City of Fridley Community Services Director, will provide a program update.
