PROGRAM: 
 
15 members heard Jim Hunt, White Bear Lake Rotarian, past District Governor, and spokesperson for LIFT (formerly Fast for Hope), District 5960’s economic development program in Nicaragua, review the program’s history, status, and recent initiatives. The program aims to stimulate sustainable economic development in rural villages. Two grant applications to help fund LIFT are expected to be received from neighboring clubs.
 
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
 
Following the presentation, the club approved its annual donation of $500.00 to District 5960 for the LIFT program.
 
REMINDERS:
 
The next Operation Pollination virtual meeting is scheduled for 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 2. Use Zoom reference https://colheights-k12-mn-us.zoom.us/j/86557933324.
 
The next club board meeting is scheduled for 9 a.m., Wednesday, April 3, at Fridley Community Center. All members are welcome.
 
STRIVE students will visit Anoka Tech on Wednesday, April 3 at 10 AM. and Hennepin Tech on Tuesday, May 7 @ 10 am, followed by lunch and a 1 hr visit to the adjacent Law Enforcement Academy. Contact Steve Klaers at 612-599-8103 about accompanying the students.
 
The 11th annual Golf Classic, the primary club fundraiser, is set for Monday, July 15, at the Refuge Golf Course in Oak Grove.
 
Rotary International announced that the 2029 RI convention will be held in Minneapolis. It will be organized cooperatively by Districts 5580/5950,5960, and 6250.

UPCOMING PROGRAMS: March 27- Handlers from Sustainable Safaris will bring animals from its facility and describe its program. April 3- Bondo Nyembwe of Columbia Heights Public Schools will describe the school district’s response to its influx this year of migrant students. April 10- New member Will Rottler will present his classification talk.
