PROGRAM
 
13 members and guests Melissa Trent, Ag Specialist at Columbia Heights High School, and Kelly Leitner, Barb Pabst, and John Pabst of Columbia Heights heard Megan Reich of Metro Blooms describe their programs, which promote the creation resilient landscapes and foster clean watersheds in the metropolitan area.
 
UPCOMING PROGRAMS: Feb. 12- new member Sonja Ketchum delivers her classification talk. Feb. 19- Adam Betker of the Project 6:8 nonprofit. Feb. 26- Rick Heidick of Stillwater Sunrise Rotary provides an update of District 5960’s LIFT program.
 
ANNOUNCEMENTS
 
The Operation Pollination group met yesterday morning on Zoom, with Melissa Trent, Ag Specialist at Columbia Heights High School joining members Amáda Márquez Simula, Kristen Stuenkel, and Bob Tholkes. Trent provided an update of winter seeding activities for the school’s Blooming Heights program. Márquez Simula plans to submit information about the Columbia Heights Monarch Festival to the Rotary Magazine.
 
President Mike Oakley announced that our meeting site will change by the end of February, following notification by Shortstop Bar & Grill in January. Steps in the process of arranging a new site will begin at the club board meeting later today.

The due date for your current Rotary account invoice was Friday, January 31. Pay by check at a meeting, mail a check to FCH Rotary at 3966 Reservoir Blvd., Columbia Heights 55421, or use the club’s VENMO account. To use it for payments to the club, download the VENMO ap and type in Fridley-Columbia HeightsRotaryClub.
 
STRIVE students will visit Minneapolis College and RAO Manufacturing tomorrow. Contact Steve Klaers at 612-599-8103 about attending.

The Rotary District ‘Make Peace Visible’ Annual Conference is scheduled for Thursday-Saturday May 1-3 at Mystic Lake Event Center, 2400 Mystic Lake Blvd, Prior Lake. Register at https://makepeacevisible.org/.
 
The 2025 Golf Classic fundraiser is scheduled for Monday, July 28, at The Refuge Golf Course in Columbus Township.
 
The Columbia Heights Mayor’s Monarch Festival is scheduled for Thursday, August 14. The club usually has an informational table.
 
 
Rotary International announced that the May 27-28, 2028 (changed from 2029) RI convention will be held in Minneapolis. It will be organized cooperatively by Districts 5580, 5950, 5960, and 6250.
