18 members and former Rotarian Kyle Sabot heard Frost Simula give his classification talk, a difficult prospect his career to date has admitted of a number of different fields in the design category. A native of Cloquet, Frost spoke (and showed slides) mostly about his current profession of UX Engineering, in which he acts as a consultant helping organizations with user-friendly online products. He described himself as largely self-educated. Hew is the spouse of member Amada Marquez Simula.
 
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Golf Classic coordinator Greg Schraufnagel announced that the event website, fchgolfclassic.com, is up. The 2020 Classic is scheduled for Monday, July 20, at The Refuge Golf Club in Oak Grove, last year’s site.

The club will have an entry at the Lee Carlson Center Chili Cook-off at the Embassy Suites Hotel, 6300 Earle Brown Dr., Brooklyn Center, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thanks to Mark & Liz Grotewold for cooking, and to Scott Lund, Bob Tholkes, Katie Johnson, Greg Schraufnagel, Tim Blank, and Craig Malm for serving.
 
Early-bird registration for the District 5960 Conference of Clubs closes on March 15. The conference will take place April 30-May 1 at the Mystic Lake Event Center, Prior Lake.
 
The board approved the purchase of a table for 10 at the Alexandra House Gala, to be held from 6 to 10 p.m. on March 28 at Leopold’s Mississippi Gardens, 9500 W River Rd, Minneapolis, MN 55444. Sign up for a place at the table for yourself and one guest by emailing Bob Tholkes at rjtholkes@gmail.com.
 
The District 5960 Rotary Foundation Grants Management Seminars take place in Stillwater on Saturday, April 4, and in Rochester on Thursday, April 14. Our club needs at least one member to attend in order to pursue a district or global grant in 2020-21. See Bob Tholkes or Roy Goslin if you are interested.
 
Craig Malm announced that the Bikes for Kids bike giveaway will take place on Saturday, April 25 at Stevenson Elementary School, 6080 E. River Road in Fridley. It will serve as the next club service project, with volunteers responsible for helmet-fitting. The club board voted to provide the $200 entry fee.
 
2020-21 District Governor Ed Marek of the St. Paul Sunrise Club will be installed on Tuesday evening, June 23 at the Wilder Foundation, 451 Lexington Pkwy, St. Paul.
