14 members heard new member Dr. Nick Weinand speak entertainingly about his background, (Korean adoptee raised in the Twin Cities); education (English major before a U-turn 20 years ago into dentistry); career (many years of service at a nonprofit clinic in St. Paul); family (wife Nancy and two children); and interests (music, books, camping, tabletop games).

Social Committee Scott Lund informs that only 3-4 places remain for the summer social at the “Broadway and More” show at Crooner’s Supper Club, 6161 Hwy 65, Fridley. Show at 6 pm, several are showing up at 5 for dinner.

Rich Coleman reminds that Grace Evangelical Free Church, 755 73rd Ave NE, Fridley, welcomes volunteers on the second Friday of each month to help sort food and fill grocery carts for distribution at its food shelf. Volunteers are particularly needed this Friday, June 12, from 4-7 pm.
Scott Lund, founder of the Fridley Arts Foundation, seeks volunteers to walk the 49er Days parade route on Thursday, July 16, and hand out flyers for its upcoming arts dedication ceremony.
