20 members heard senior member Steve Klaers (1984)continue this month’s series of classification-talk encores arranged for the purpose of acquainting relatively recent members with the histories of our long-termers. Following his lifetime theme of “Busy and Balanced” and values of faith, family, and finance, Steve described a childhood (divided between St. Cloud and Bemidji) spent learning the value of financial independence and financial planning, Steve graduated from St. Cloud State College and joined the Navy, serving in Viet Nam and learning the high points of naval service. Settling into a sales career, Steve excelled in life insurance sales and achieved a stable family life; he has been married for 48 years, with two daughters and three grandchildren. His Rotary participation bespeaks his strong service ethic; he has headed up the club’s STRIVE program since the 1998-99 Rotary year, after serving as club president.
Klaers worked into his talk an announcement that the STRIVE students’ first field trip is scheduled for Friday, December 3. Rotarians are as always invited.
