15 members heard David Yorks, longtime student of the John F. Kennedy Assassination controversy, succinctly review the two official inquiries into the assassination: the Warren Commission Report of 1964, in particular its shortcomings and omissions, and the House Select Committee study of 1977-1979. 
 
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
 
The district Awards Team needs Rotarians to help determine which clubs should be the winners of our annual District Club Awards. This task is completed by email, and offers a glimpse into the activities of other clubs in our area. Contact Mitch Popple, District Awards Team Leader at (calmar.popple@gmail.com) if you will help.
 
Scott Lund noted that the club competed well at the Lee Carlson Center Chili Cookoff last week, though no awards were garnered. Bob Tholkes added that the cookoff crew were provided with branded polos to wear. Polos will be henceforth be provided for members to wear (and keep) at such public service events.
 
REMINDERS:
 
Early-bird registration for the District 5960 Conference of Clubs closes on March 15. The conference will take place April 30-May 1 at the Mystic Lake Event Center, Prior Lake.
 
Columbia Heights STRIVE students will work at Feed My Starving Children in Coon Rapids on Wednesday, March 25, leaving by bus at 9:00 a.m. from the high school. Rotarians are invited to escort the students and their faculty advisor.
 
The board approved the purchase of a table for 10 at the Alexandra House Gala, to be held from 6 to 10 p.m. on March 28 at Leopold’s Mississippi Gardens, 9500 W River Rd, Minneapolis, MN 55444. Sign up for a place at the table for yourself and one guest by emailing Bob Tholkes at rjtholkes@gmail.com.
 
The District 5960 Rotary Foundation Grants Management Seminars take place in Stillwater on Saturday, April 4, and in Rochester on Thursday, April 14. Our club needs at least one member to attend in order to pursue a district or global grant in 2020-21. See Bob Tholkes or Roy Goslin if you are interested.
 
Craig Malm announced that the Bikes for Kids bike giveaway will take place on Saturday, April 25 at Stevenson Elementary School, 6080 E. River Road in Fridley. It will serve as the next club service project, with volunteers responsible for helmet-fitting. The club board voted to provide the $200 entry fee.
 
2020-21 District Governor Ed Marek of the St. Paul Sunrise Club will be installed on Tuesday evening, June 23 at the Wilder Foundation, 451 Lexington Pkwy, St. Paul.
 
The Golf Classic website, fchgolfclassic.com, is up. The 2020 Classic is scheduled for Monday, July 20, at The Refuge Golf Club in Oak Grove, last year’s site.
