12 members heard Fridley mayor Dave Ostvald update the club on goals and priorities for his first term in office, especially the continuing renovations to the city’s parks, particularly Fridley Commons. He praised the city’s staff and mentioned an upcoming residential development project. Ostvald was elected in November to succeed longtime mayor Scott Lund.

Treasurer Stephen Keeler is retaining his membership but has submitted his resignation as treasurer, which includes club board membership. As treasurer is an office required by Rotary International, a replacement will be sought immediately.

2025-26 District Governor Glenn Bowers of neighboring Arden Hills-Shoreview Rotary will be installed on Thursday, June 12 at a gathering from 4:40-7:30 at Shoreview Community Center, 4580 Victoria Avenue N, Shoreview.
The 2025 Golf Classic fundraiser is scheduled for Monday, July 28, at The Refuge Golf Course in Columbus Township, Anoka County.
The Columbia Heights Mayor’s Monarch Festival is scheduled for Thursday, August 14. The club usually staffs an informational table.
Rotary International announced that the May 27-28, 2028 (changed from 2029) RI convention will be held in Minneapolis. It will be organized cooperatively by Districts 5580, 5950, 5960, and 6250.
