22 members heard Fridley Public Schools staffers David Webber, Communications Specialist; Jael McLemore, Communications Director; and Todd Tillurg, Director of Finance and Operations, present information concerning the November 5 school referendum and show a supporting video. The referendum's object is to revoke the existing operations levy passed in 2015 and replace it with a 10-year levy offering greater revenue, to prevent reductions in staff, programs, and services.
 
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Steve Klaers announced that the initial meeting of STRIVE program mentors with Fridley High School STRIVE students will take place next Wednesday, October 9, at 11:30 at the school.
 
Following a presentation by City of Fridley Alyssa Kruzel, Membership Chair Craig Malm announced that the club will have an information table at the Fridley New Resident Mixer to be held on October 12 at the Fridley civic Center Plaza from 10:00 a.m. to noon. Secretary Bob Tholkes will staff the table, and a second volunteer is wanted.
 
District 5960’s 19th Annual Foundation Celebration will be held on Saturday, November 02, at Delta Hotels by Marriott, 1330 Industrial Blvd NE in Minneapolis from 5:30 to 9:00 p.m. Tickets for the dinner are $65.
 
District 5960 Foundation Committee is sponsoring a breakfast meeting with former RI president Ian Riseley on Friday, November 15, at Delta Hotels by Marriott, 1330 Industrial Blvd NE in Minneapolis from 7:15 to 9:00 a.m. Tickets for the breakfast are $25.
 
District 5960 is sponsoring a Tap Room Tour with former TRF Trustee Mary Beth Growney Selene on Thursday, November 21. Details TBA

Explore the power of stories and how we are “Connected by Our Rotary Stories” at this year’s District 5960 One Rotary Summit. To be held Saturday, October 26 at FamilyMeans Center in Stillwater, 1875 Northwestern Avenue, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. This session is designed for new and experienced Rotarians to come together and share in the discussion about Rotary’s Public Image, Membership, and Foundation opportunities.
 
The club Charter Dinner is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 6, at Sunset Grill, 8466 Hwy. 65, Spring Lake Park. Time TBA. No meeting on that date.
