PROGRAM
 
19 members heard President Mike Oakley lead a comprehensive club business session, calling on several members to provide updates and 2024-25 plans for the functions they lead. Discussed were the club’s 2024-25 budget for charitable giving, the STRIVE program, the fall literacy project, Operation Pollination, a possible change in the online payment option for dues payments, and progress on the 2024-25 district grant project. Oakley urged members to explore possibilities for new members.

The Operation Pollination group met on Tuesday, September 10, with Neil Granlund of the Heights Next community group and Melissa Trent, Ag Specialist at Columbia Heights High School joining members Kristen Stuenkel and Bob Tholkes. Highlights of the highly successful Mayor Monarch Festival held in Columbia Heights in August were shared. Trent reviewed the summer program at Blooming Heights Garden at the high school, which featured the establishment of a pollinator garden.
 
REMINDERS
Columbia Heights Lions invite Rotarians to participate in its Adopt A Highway event in Heights on Saturday, September 14. Participants meet at the Columbia Heights Library, 3939 Central Avenue NE, at 9 a.m. and work in teams.
 
Due to the transition in the club treasurer position from Greg Schraufnagel (thanks for your service, Greg!) To Stephen Keeler and Greg’s duties as coordinator of the upcoming Golf Classic, invoices for the billing quarter ending June 30 were not issued…to catch up, a second invoice (the first was issued last week) will be forthcoming during the new quarter which ends September 30.

The next club board meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, October 2, at 9 a.m. at Fridley Community Center, 6058 7 St NE. All members are welcome.
 
The annual Charter Dinner will take place on Wednesday evening, November 6, at Banquets of Minnesota, 6310 Hwy 65, Fridley. Doors open at 5:30. District ,5960 District Governor Ed Boeve will be on hand.
 
Rotary International announced that the 2029 RI convention will be held in Minneapolis. It will be organized cooperatively by Districts 5580/5950,5960, and 6250.
