20 members heard Jeff Dahlman, Site Director for the Kids in Need Foundation Resource Center in Roseville describe the foundation's history, operations, programs, and funding. Last year the foundations efforts to distribute school supplies to schools where at least 70% of students are eligible for free or reduced-cost lunches provide 1.2 million dollars in supplies to 100,000 students.

The January 16 meeting is a 5:01 at El Tequila, 4005 Central Avenue, Columbia Heights. Aperitivos and a round of bebidos provided.
 
The January 23 meeting will be held at the new Fridley Civic Center at 7:30 a.m.; breakfast catered.
 
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
The club needs a Youth Exchange Officer for 2019-20. Please contact President-Elect Brian Weierke if interested.
 
Steve Klaers noted that 27 STRIVE students attended the field trip to MCC on Jan. 8. One field trip remains, date TBA.
 
To date during the 2018-19 fiscal year, in addition to its continuing commitment for scholarships through STRIVE, the club has made 11 contributions totaling $8,680.00 to local and international causes.
 
REMINDERS:
The club and HYF boards are scheduled to meet today at Fridley Civic Center at 9 a.m.
 
District 5960 will hold a free Midterm event on Jan. 12 at Anderson Hall, Hamline University, 774 Snelling Avenue N, St. Paul, from 8:30 – 3:00 pm. Lunch provided. Register online at the Rotary District 5960 website.
 
The Suits & Hearts Benefit Gala, a benefit for Rotary’s End Polio Now program, is scheduled for January 19. See suitsandhearts.org for tickets and information.

Scott Lund reminded that the Fridley Lions' “Winter Warm-up” will be held on Friday, February 22, from 6 to 9 pm at Banquets of Minnesota in Fridley. Scott has tickets for sale at the breakfast meetings.
 
The Lee Carlson Center Chili Cookoff and Beverage Tasting will take place on March 1 under a new format at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Brooklyn Center, reflecting LCC's expansion to that Hennepin County community. More information to come.
 
Scott Lund reminded that the "Taste of Fridley" a fundraiser for the spring Fridley Middle School East Coast Trip, will be held on Friday, March 8, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Banquets of MN in Fridley.
 
The club has a table for 8 at the Fridley Schools Foundation Black & Gold Gala on Thursday, March 28 at Jax Café. Contact Secretary Bob Tholkes about reserving a place, ph 763-913-4453. One place remains.
 
The Alexandra House Hope Gala will take place on Saturday, March 30. The club board will debate participation at its meeting today.
 
Greg Schraufnagel reminded that the club's Golf Classic will take place on July 22 at The Refuge in Oak Grove. Goal is to attract 100 golfers.
 
Donations are sought for the Metro North Adult Basic Ed winter clothing distribution program in our service area. They will be accepted all through the winter. They can be brought to the breakfast and  given to Kristen Stuenkel.
