On April 24, 16 members heard Fridley Public Schools Social Worker Kelsey Knutson describe the Social Work function at FPS. The social work team supports students' mental/social health, educational health, and physical health. FPS employs a social worker at each facility.
 
On May 1, 21 members, Columbia Heights STRIVE coordinator Scott Roehm, and Columbia Heights STRIVE students Yessenia Yuguilima and Brandon Kline heard leadership consultant Jason Hunt speak on "Positively Impacting Others".
 
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Bob Olsen reviewed plans for 49er Days activities, the Fun Run on June 13 and the Wine Tent on June 13-14. Volunteers to staff the events will be recruited at a later date. Lacey Anderson announced that Talecris will donate $500 for the Fun Run, and Craig Malm pledged $100 for Allina, so that the $600 needed is pledged.
 
Greg Schraufnagel listed donors to date for the Golf Classic, including $1500 donated by new member Steve Drost’s firm.
 
Steve Klaers announced that the Columbia Heights STRIVE awards will be presented on Wednesday, May 15 at 7:00 p.m. in the school’s Performing Arts Center, with a reception following, and Fridley’s on Thursday, May 16 in the school’s auditorium, also at 7 p.m.
 
REMINDERS:
The next club board meeting next week, either Tuesday or Wednesday, at 9:00 a.m. at Fridley Civic Center.
 
The club spring social is on May 7, when members are invited to attend the 20th annual Columbia Heights Interfaith Prayer Breakfast at Murzyn Hall, 530 Mill St NE.. THE PRAYER BREAKFAST REPLACES THE MAY 8 CLUB BREAKFAST. This interfaith, multicultural event includes a catered Mexican breakfast beginning at 7:00 a. m... The program will be provided by the homeless-youth agency Hope 4 Youth, and will conclude at 8:45 AM.
 
HeightsNEXT Community Foundation will hold its annual fundraiser, Cheers for Beers, from 6-9 pm on May 17 at Murzyn Hall, 530 Mill St NE in Columbia Heights.
 
JOINT BREAKFAST: We will breakfast with Blaine-Ham Lake Rotary at TPC on Wednesday, June 5 from 7:30 to 8:30. TPC is at 11444 Tournament Players Pkwy, Blaine.
