PROGRAM 18 members, visiting Rotarian Harold Matson of Anoka Rotary, and guest Michelle Pettway, Columbia Heights Public Schools board member, heard Holly Schultz (and therapy dog Sugar) describe her volunteer work with Sugar at area schools, hospitals, senior centers, and with Anoka County and Fridley law enforcement through the Fridley Police Reserve program. Sugar has a successful record in calming and facilitating communication.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Steve Klaers announced that Fridley High School STRIVE mentor meetings will begin on Thursday, October 5 at the high school at 9 a.m.
Treasurer Greg Schraufnagel announced that invoices for the present billing quarter, which ends on September 30, will be emailed this week.
Secretary Bob Tholkes announced that the new HYF Birthday Club had enrolled 11 members (and two more joined today).
REMINDERS

The club is invited to participate with the city of Fridley and Anoka County on Saturday, September 23, to plant seedlings at 10 a.m. at Commons Park, 555 61th Avenue NE.
District 5960 Rotarians are invited to participate on Wednesday, September 27 from 5:30 to 8 pm at Nicollet Island Pavilion in Minneapolis in a get-together with RI's Convention Site Selection Team. Minneapolis has applied to host the 2029 RI convention.
District 5960's 2023-24 One Summit sessions(focused discussions on Membership, Public Image, and the Rotary Foundation) are scheduled for Roseville (Thursday, September 28) and Stillwater (Thursday, October 5). Register at ONE SUMMIT District 5960 (rotary5960.org).
The club board meets next on Wednesday, October 4, at 9 a.m. at Fridley Community Center.
The District 5960 Conference of Clubs takes place on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 13-14 at St. Olaf College in Northfield.
The Dictionary Project program will be delayed to late October.
The annual Charter Dinner social event on Wednesday, November 15 at Banquets of Minnesota in Fridley will again feature the Rotary District Governor. The DG for 2023-24 is Patricia McCleese of Rochester.
The Operation Pollination program for 2023 has been concluded, and will resume meeting in early 2024.
