No breakfast today at Shortstop Bar & Grill due to the holiday week. There will also be no breakfast in two weeks, July 18, because of the Golf Classic fundraiser.
 
ANNOUNCEMENTS
 
The half-year forwarding of fine money to the Rotary Foundation for Polio Plus was in the amount of $357.00.  Thanks to all our “fine” donors!
 
Congrats to the members whose combination of meeting attendance and Rotary service met the "perfect attendance" standard of one event per week in 2021-22: Gordon Backlund (multi-year streak active), Brad Gudim (since joining in September), Steve (STRIVE) Klaers, Greg (Golf) Schraufnagel, Kristen (Operation Pollination) Stuenkel, and Bob Tholkes (multi-year streak active).
 
The club will offer its condolences and a memorial to member Vern Hoium on the passing of his wife Nancy Hoium at her upcoming visitation and memorial service. Mrs. Hoium’s obituary is at https://www.legacy.com/us/obituaries/name/nancy-hoium-obituary?id=35461396.
 
FCH Member Kristen Stuenkel notes that the recent Gay Pride Festival in Minneapolis included an informational table for the new Minnesota Pride Rotary Club. The club’s website https://mnpriderotary.org/ describes the club as a community of LGBTQ+ people and allies where all are welcome, and its mission as to grow an accepting community of business leaders that leave a positive impact on our community and world.
 
Congrats to member Wally Wysopal, Fridley city manager, recipient of the 2022 James F. Miller Leadership Award by the League of Minnesota Cities. Wysopal’s leadership in the development of the Fridley Civic Campus and the redevelopment of the Northern Stacks industrial property were cited. Everything—golfers, sponsors, auction items, diners- is still needed for the July 18 Golf Classic to bring it up to previous standards.  See the Golf Classic website at www.fchgolfclassic.com. The online auction site https://www.32auctions.com/FCHRotaryAuction2022 is up; bidding is online only, beginning one week before the event. Some photos have been posted.
 
The third membership drive lunch meeting at the Refuge Golf Club, 21250 Yellow Pine St NW, Oak Grove, MN, the site of the July Golf Classic fundraiser, will take place on July 27.
Complementary lunches and golf will be provided for invited prospective members. Members are requested to help identify prospective members to invite, particularly owners of local businesses. Outgoing President Don Archibeque circulated an email list on May 6. Members who choose to golf after the meeting can do so at a discounted rate of $45.00. The meeting will begin at 11:30. The meeting will be hybrid. A lunch meeting at The Refuge is also scheduled for August 24.
 
The Columbia Heights Monarch Festival takes place on Wednesday, August 17. The club will have an informational table and will receive sponsor recognition.
