Ten true Minnesota Rotarians braved today's snowfall and heard speaker Nathan France describe the concept, purpose, and organization of social business, commercial for-profit enterprises started with the object of sharing profits with charitable causes. 
The meeting also approved re-purposing a 2017 donation to Mwendo Congo for building water-taxis on Lake Kivu in the Congo for medical transport of islanders, as the money was not needed for the original purpose.
Greg Schraufnagel suggested performing Habitat for Humanity work as a service project.
The club has donated funding for the Banfill-Locke Center for the Arts Student Art Exhibition, which continues through March 9. The Center also seeks volunteers during the exhibition. Contact Director Jeff Ebeling at
The Fridley Lions' “Winter Warm-up” will be held this Friday, February 22, from 6 to 9 pm at Banquets of Minnesota in Fridley. Scott Lund has tickets.
The Lee Carlson Center Chili Cookoff will take place on Friday evening March 1 from 5:30-8:30 at the Embassy Suites Hotel, 6300 Earle Brown Drive, Brooklyn Center, reflecting LCC's expansion to that Hennepin County community. The "Taste of Fridley" a fundraiser for the spring Fridley Middle School East Coast trip, will be held on Friday, March 8, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Banquets of MN in Fridley. $25 at the door, $20 in advance.
