In observance of the September Rotary theme of Literacy, 20 members, visiting Rotarian Tom Yuzer of Menifee, California, and former member Dick Harris heard Kathleen Moriarty, Director of the Metro North Adult Education Center in Columbia Heights describe the Center's mission, vision, and curriculum. The Center served 963 adult students in 2017, with English as a Second Language courses as the largest program. 
 
Steve Klaers reported on last week's club golf championship. John Niewald won the trophy for low gross score, and Greg Schraufnagel for low net after handicap.
 
Scott Lund invited members to attend this Friday's Autumn Sampler fundraiser at Springbrook Nature Center in Fridley. The event will be held from 4 to 8 pm.
 
Scott Lund announced that the club's fall social activity will be a Mystery activity, with members boarding a bus to an undisclosed destination, on Sunday afternoon, October 21. 
 
President Josh Lund announced that the club's fall Community Service event will take place in October, at either the Sheridan Story or Feed MY Starving Children.
 
The fall Dictionary Project event will take place either on Wednesday September 26 or Wednesday October 3.
