PROGRAM
 
14 members and three guests heard author Dennis Kelly share with the Club the story and mission of Write to Hope. Write to Hope is a non-profit that conducts mindful writing workshops within six Minnesota counties. Studies have shown that therapeutic writing can provide benefits such as stress relief, clarity of thought, and freedom to move forward unencumbered by past experiences. Along with the writing workshops, Write to Hope connects detainees resources following their release.
 
UPCOMING PROGRAMS: Aug. 19- Past Rotary District Governor Ed Boeve of the 2028 Rotary International Committee talks about the upcoming convention. Aug. 26- Tim (surname unknown) describes neighboring Rotary District 5950’s Polio Plus campaign. Sep. 2- Tour & program: Fridley Commons Park, 555 61st Ave NE replaces Central Mix meeting.
 
CLUB ANNOUNCEMENTS
 
At the club board meeting yesterday:
 
Treasurer Rottler reported net revenue of $21,000 from the July 30 Golf Classic.
A budget of $14,000 was provided for 2026-27 STRIVE program scholarship pledges.
A contribution of $500 was approved for White Bear Lake Rotary’s Global Grant project.
$1700.00 was approved for the 2026-27 Literacy program.

Treasurer Will Rottler issued invoices on June 22 for the current billing quarter, which ends June 30. Check your email! Treasurer Rottler is available by phone for online dues payments on Square. Contact him at 763-670-4259. Payments can also be turned in at meetings or mailed to FCH Rotary, 3966 Reservoir Blvd., Columbia Heights 55421.
 
Rotary International announced that the May 27-28, 2028 RI convention will be held in Minneapolis. It will be organized cooperatively by Districts 5580, 5950, 5960, and 6250. If you already know that you will want to volunteer at the Rotary International Convention in Minneapolis in 2028, send your name, email and club name to ri2028volunteer@gmail.com. At a minimum, the people-watching should be amazing! Convention registration not required. The convention has an immediate goal of 1000 Rotarians registered as interested in volunteering.

Rich Coleman reminds that Grace Evangelical Free Church, 755 73rd Ave NE, Fridley, welcomes volunteers on the second Friday of each month to help sort food and fill grocery carts for distribution at its food shelf.
