Meeting of March 7, 2018
 
18 members attended in order to hear updates on Free Bikes 4 Kids from Al Sannerud & Lowell Kutches. Lowell presented on the history of Free Bikes 4 Kids and current needs for the program including funds, help and space. Over 1000 bikes were cleaned, restored and prepped for kids in 2017 alone. Bikes have even been sent to Gambia in Africa. The 2nd Annual Legacy Ride will be held the end of September starting at Elm Creek Park to help raise additional funds.
 
Announcements:
  • March 9 was the final STRIVE field trip to Anoka Tech and North Hennepin Community College. Tim volunteered to assist Steve with the trip.
  • There will be no meeting on the morning of March 21 so members can participate in the preparation of the chili for the Lee Carlson Center Chili Cook-off. On the night of the 21st, assistance is requested at Greg's home to prep the chili and condiments for the event that will be held on March 22. Assistance will also be needed for serving as well.
  • March 23 is the banquet for the Stepping Stone Homeless Shelter. Peggy has more information for those interested.
  • The Hope Gala is on the 24th. There are still spots for 6 more people to sit at the Rotary-sponsored table at Leopold's Mississippi Gardens.
  • The Charter Dinner is the end of April. More information will be forthcoming.
  • The Save-The-Date letter for the annual golf tournament has been sent. The Board has also approved $500 to be donated to student organizations from Columbia Heights High School, Fridley High School and Totino Grace Academy to help during the golf tournament.
