14 in-person members (Zoom access was unsuccessful) and prospective member Brad Gudim heard Mike Maher, Community Services Director for the City of Fridley, provide an update on the ongoing process for citywide improvement of its parks. The condition (aging) of all of the city’s 35 smaller, neighborhood parks and three larger community parks has been assessed and resident opinions gathered. An outside consultant firm is evaluating the recommendations and refining the results in terms of the likely funding available. Further resident input sessions have been scheduled.
The club board is scheduled to meet next Wednesday at 9 a.m. at Fridley City Hall.
The club is scheduled again to provide bellringing support for the Salvation Army, for 4-hour shifts from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 1; Wednesday, Dec. 8; and Wednesday, Dec. 15 at Sam’s Club in Fridley. Steve Klaers remided that Fridley’s STRIVE program will kick off with a student meeting on October 4, and urged members to sign up as student mentors.
A musical service celebrating the long life and career in music of Henry Smith, spouse of member Norma Jean Falink, is scheduled (COVID permitting) for Monday, November 22, at Colonial Church of Edina, at 2 p.m.
