14 members signed in for the meeting of October 7, a Zoom-only gathering due to a staffing problem at the Short Stop Grill. They heard members Kim Heil, superintendent of Fridley Public Schools, and Kristen Stuenkel, administrator at Columbia Heights Public Schools, discuss the challenges posed by conducting the 2020-21 school year during the current pandemic. Both districts are mixing on-site and distance learning using different formats. Almost half of the districts' parents have opted for distance learning only.
