22 members, including 5 on Zoom, joined in welcoming new member Halimo Ismail of Fridley, a Columbia Heights native, who was inducted by her mentor, Amada Marquez Simula. They also heard new member Ed Higgins of Columbia Heights give an engaging account of his family, widely varying interests, and career, from the Marine Corps through positions with a succession of tech companies to his present self-employment as a website designer.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Steve Klaers provided the results of last week’s club gold championship, at which major awards were taken home by ex-member Joe Maertens and current member Greg Schraufnagel. Full results and photos will be posted on the club website.
President Kelli Bourgeois announced that at its meeting on October 7 the club board voted to cancel the November 4 Charter Dinner, for which sign-ups have been well below requirements, and under the present circumstances hold club meetings only on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month for December through March.
Secretary Bob Tholkes noted that charges on members’ accounts in connection with the August 31 Golf Classic are not on the account invoices sent yesterday, and will be billed next quarter.
