New member Michael Oakley of Andover presented his classification talk, providing information about his upbringing, education, military service, recent marriage, and continuing career at financial services giant UBS, where he is part of its Wealth Management department.

McCarron, Lois R. Age 78, of Spring Lake Park, passed away May 26, 2022. Survived by brother, Walter Buhl, Jr. (Bonnie); daughter, Janet Jorgenson-Rathke (Dennis); bonus son, Shane McCarron (Serenity); grandchildren, Taylor and Mari Rathke, Nick, and Jessica McCarron; nephew, Andrew Johnson (Kim); grandnieces, Emma, Madison, and Taliah Johnson, and grandnephew Logan Johnson; and many other relatives and friends across the world. Golf Classic Coordinator Greg Schraufnagel noted that the July 18 fundraiser netted $17,000 and enrolled 92 golfers, a record for the 10-year-old event.

The 2022-23 club board will hold its first meeting on Wednesday, August 3, at 9 a.m. at Fridley Community Center. Meetings are open to all members.

The Columbia Heights Monarch Festival takes place on Wednesday, August 17. The club will have an informational table and will receive sponsor recognition.
 
Response not having been as hoped, the monthly lunch meetings planned for August 24 at The Refuge will revert to breakfast at Shortstop. Thanks to those who participated in the lunches on May 25 and June 29.
 
Columbia Heights Public Schools invites FCH Rotary members to attend the annual “Scaling the Heights” new staff orientation on Wednesday, August 24, from 9:15-9:45 a.m.at Hylander Center. Contact FCH Rotary Secretary Bob Tholkes at fridleychrotary.org if you expect to attend.
