It’s a revival! 17 members, including 3 on Zoom, heard member Gordon Backlund detail the plans for this summer’s revival of 49er Days, the Fridley town festival last held in 2019. To be held June 17-19, plans include a parade, fireworks, a softball tournament, live music, games, food trucks, a petting zoo, ann all0class Fridley High School reunion, and a beer tent. The event is spearheaded by the Fridley Lions Club and supported by the City of Fridley. FCH Rotary will revive the 2k Fun Run, held before the parade.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Steve Klaers announced that a mentor/student meeting and lunch with the Fridley STRIVE group will be held next Tuesday at the high school. A field trip and lunch is planned for April.
Volunteers will be needed for the planned 49er Days Fun Run, which Bob Olsen will organize in May upon his return from Florida. Volunteers sign runners in and provide timing.
Bob Tholkes announced that local students to attend Rotary Camp RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award) have not been identified, but that the club would donate to the camp as intended.
President Don Archibeque announced that the club will consider alteration of the meeting schedule over the summer in favor of periodic brunches with an option of golf afterward.
