Breakfast was not held today, Wednesday, January 4, due to the winter storm, during which uncounted snowflakes fell, and had to be picked up again.
 
The speaker, David Van Wagner of Humana, has been rescheduled to May 10.
 
UPCOMING PROGRAMS: Speaker on January 11: Betsy Hoium, daughter of member Vern Hoium, will speak about the trials and rewards of her position as a hospital chaplain. Speaker on Jan. 18: Former STRIVE student Wendy Tocachi will recount her STRIVE success story.
 
ANNOUNCEMENTS
 
The Pollination Committee met on Tuesday, January 3 at 7:30 a.m. on Zoom, with Amada Márquez Simula, Mike Oakley, and Bob Tholkes joining host Kristen Stuenkel, Wes Nugteren of Columbia Heights High School’s Blooming Heights program and Stephanie of the Greater Mankato Rotary Eco Club. Stephanie summarized her club’s activities, including a district grant obtained for starting a pollinator garden. Márquez Simula updated the group on the ongoing Mississippi Watershed Management Organization grant process undertaken by HeightsNEXT Community Foundation with the club’s support.

The next Fridley High School STRIVE mentors meeting will take place on Tuesday, Jan. 10 at 11:30. Contact Klaers at 612-599-8103 if planning to attend. Additional mentors for Fridley STRIVE students are sought, and potential mentors next year at Columbia Heights High School are encouraged to attend.
