20 members, prospective member Steve Drost, Fridley resident and financial planner at Affiance Financial of St. Louis Park, former member Dick Harris, and Area 9 Assistant Governor Sandy Campbell of Anoka Rotary heard District Governor Mike Becker of Rochester speak of Rotary's challenges, opportunities, accomplishments, and initiatives for 2018-19.
 
Campbell introduced the DG and described Anoka Rotary's fundraiser raffle for converting cottages at the former Anoka state Hospital site into shelters for the homeless, and was successful in selling several tickets.
 
Lund announced that the board had voted to donate $500 to Alexandra House for its Hopefest gala, held September 29, and to donate $1000 to the HeightsNEXT Community Foundation to support its community activities in 2018-19. Amada Marquez Simula, the Foundation's president, noted that the club's logo will be featured at the activities supported.
 
Lund announced that the fall service project in late Nov.-early Dec. (date, etc. TBA) will be combined with an impromptu holiday party...
 
Greg Schraufnagel announced that the 2019 Golf Classic will move to The Refuge Golf Club in Oak Grove. Oak Grove is located between Ham Lake and Bethel in Anoka County.
 
Among the dictionary thank-yous received from area 3rd-graders (thanks for sharing them, Kristen Stuenkel) was the following:
