22 members, guests Jim Cummings, STRIVE program coordinator at Fridley High School, and prospective member Frost Simula, spouse of member Amada Simula, heard new City of Fridley fire chief Mike Spencer review his background as a participant in Desert Storm and as an employee of the former Koch Refinery in Rosemount, which prepared him for service in the Fridley Fire Department and for his new position as chief. He answered several questions the department's challenges and opportunities.
ANNONCEMENTS:
Cummings announced that the 2019-2020 STRIVE program, including the new mentoring program, would get underway shortly at Fridley.
Prominent among the "Happy Fines" was Steve Drost's announcement that he and spouse Marissa will welcome their first prospective member in March.

Past District Governor Mike Becker is seeking nominations for District Governor in 2022-23. Nominations are due by September 27. Contact club president Brian Weierke if you wish to nominate a member.

Explore the power of stories and how we are “Connected by Our Rotary Stories” at this year’s District 5960 One Rotary Summit. Tol be held Saturday, October 26 at FamilyMeans Center in Stillwater, 1875 Northwestern Avenue, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. This session is designed for new and experienced Rotarians to come together and share in the discussion about Rotary’s Public Image, Membership, and Foundation opportunities.
The club Charter Dinner is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 6, at Sunset Grill, 8466 Hwy. 65, Spring Lake Park. Time TBA. No meeting on that date.
